Great cycle July 22, 2010 Sandra L. Rowe (Los Angeles, CA USA)
This is a great cycle for the price! I was impressed. Assembly was easy - the bike itself works beautifully.
Good value for the money July 21, 2010 MK (Chicago, IL United States) This bike is solid - the frame is sturdy, the flywheel is smooth and heavy, and it rides as well as most of the bikes in my current gym. It couldn't have been easier to put together (it took me longer to get it out of the box than to put it together - the packaging was tight, and there was no chance anything would have shifted during shipping). The frame size is good for my height (5'10"), though a little more distance between the seat and handlebars would have been nice. There are really only two problems with the bike - the chain rattles against the chain guard, and the seat is HARD. I ended up removing the outside chain guard (a three-minute job with the provided assembly tool) and getting a gel seat, which solved both of the problems. I also switched out the toe-cage pedals for clip-in pedals, because I personally find that toe cages are just annoying in general. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase, and it's a good value for the money.
very disappointed July 19, 2010 Marbely Urbina (usa) all parts loose no matter how much you tight the screws. didn't have companies number to replace damage part....
You get alotta bang for your buck July 14, 2010 BIG TAUR (CARMEN OHIO) I just bought this bike after failed attempts to purchase a Reebok Tomahawk, and i must say this is a good bike- my first spin Bike as well. I researched for months on amazon. The price was at $354, which was a deal in and of itself. I was able to find another website where i got it for $260 shipped!!!! I took the advice and taped the handle bar adjustment rail( i used electrical tape)- works great. I sprayed the moving parts of the bike with some silicon grease. The bike rides Nice. There is a TAAD noise when cranking, but i think my stroke is uneven when im riding and not as smooth as it will be in the next weeks- also i have my size 14 show JAMMED into these cages(which is my preference actually) so the noise is not much and in my case i think its my form as i cannot reproduce noise when hand cranking. Now ill admit- the limit on this bike is 275- Ima athletic former football player and im at about 300 to round up. This bike holds me with NO issue and heck the frame is thicker than on my GIANT MTB, so i dont for see any stress fractures, ill just hold off on dancing on the pedals like Jan Ulrich trying to catch Lance- lol. If anything is left to be desired is that i 1)wish the handle bars had a pitch adjustment AND 2)wish it was not a direct drive whereas when you stop pedaling, the wheel still turns. I seen where ppl desire a water bottle. I will drill me a couple of holes and add my own- not an issue for me. Also i will one day get a handle accessory so i dont have to stay in the wind tunnel position at all times. I will also order me some kick ass magnets to put on the flywheel, so maybe i can get that puppy to a nice 50 lbs(i would not suggest doing that without the knowledge of how to balance wheels). But this is a great bike- and tho i did not go through Amazon bc i found a better price, this is the community in which researched and got pointers- so there u go.. and btw i see that price is dropping on this bike ever slightly. GOOD BUY! Goodbye!
MORE: After a few days of owing this and after riding with the TV off i did notice a noise coming from the front of the bike. I removed the chain covering and crank the bike fast- the noise comes from the chain going aroung the gear. tried to adjust wheel to no success. I put it back together and take it as normal. Since is my first bike im establishing normal from bad design. i figure my MTB makes noise when i crank as well, just that when ur outside it does not make much a difference. So, im still happy- just with there was a gear on this puppy.
Good Price, Poor Design July 13, 2010 Doug Wilson 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really wish this bike had worked out, as the price was really good. I did a lot of research and read all the reviews online here. The rating is great, and others reviews are wonderful. I hope I didn't get a dud, but I really don't think that was it. Don't get me wrong, there are some pros to the bike, but there are also some big issues that are deal breakers for me.
First the pros. The bike is easy to assemble and sturdy. It seems to be good quality and provides good resistance. It is fairly compact and is easy to move with the wheels on the front.
There are a couple dealbreakers. First, the position of your body on the bike is very uncomfortable. My wife and I have both ridden many different spinner bikes and this one we could never adjust to feel comfortable. We had to buy a different seat right away, the seat that comes with it is terrible, but even that only helped a little. We tried all the adjustments but it just never felt right. The only comfortable position we could find was sitting straight up not touching the handlebars... not really a good cycling position. This wasn't just the first time either, we have ridden this bike for over a month now and still it is not comfortable. Our road bikes and spinner bikes at the gym are far better. Second, when you up the resistance a little it started to make noises, really annoying noises. The rubbing of the pads on the wheels would screech a little and it got worse the more resistance you put on it. I guess it would be fine with hardly any resistance, but that didn't give us a good workout. Then if you work on it for an hour, the wheel and pad heated up enough to create a burning smell. Again, not really something I was looking for. We like to work out while watching TV, and the noise made it really annoying to try to do both, the volume had to be ridiculously loud.
Bottomline, I would not buy this bike for 2 reasons. It was not comfortable and it was noisy, both are fairly big issues in my mind for a spinner bike.
